Red velvet – plaster

A surface built in silence, where colour gains depth through time, hand and material.

Red Plaster Wall – Bespoke Layered Plaster for Private Interior

This red plaster wall was created for a private interior and executed entirely on site by Rob van der Plas. As with all of his work, the surface is built up in multiple layers, resulting in depth, nuance and a clearly recognisable hand-applied character.

Handcrafted Red Plaster Surface with Depth and Texture

The wall is not applied as a decorative finish, but developed as a material surface in its own right. Through successive layers, subtle variations in tone, texture and reflection emerge, giving the surface a spatial depth that responds to light and viewing angle.

On-Site Plaster Application on Existing Substrates

Before application, the existing plaster substrate is carefully tested and assessed. The quality of the underlayer is decisive for the final result.

Assessment and Testing of the Existing Plaster Base

If the existing plaster does not meet the required standards, renewal of the substrate is proposed first. This ensures a stable foundation and prevents future degradation of the surface.

Substrate Renewal for Long-Term Quality and Durability

Only after this evaluation does the layered plaster process begin, guaranteeing both visual integrity and long-term performance.

Bespoke Plasterwork Defined by Craftsmanship and Material Integrity

The result is a red plaster wall that is materially integrated into the interior rather than applied onto it, designed to retain its quality, depth and presence for many years.
